Relativistic Calculations of Transition Amplitudes in the Helium Isoelectronic Sequence
Exact relativistic wave functions for n=1 and n=2 states of heliumlike ions are used to calculate single-photon transition amplitudes for 2 P1 → 1 S0, 2 P0,1,2 → 2 S1, 2 S1 → 1 S0, 2 P1 → 2 S1 and 2 P1,2 → 1 S0. Particular attention is given to the role of negative-energy states in bringing length and velocity forms into agreement, and related quantum electrodynamics issues. This is a reprinted...
متن کاملA Gauge-Independent Approach to Resonant Transition Amplitudes
We present a new gauge-independent approach to resonant transition amplitudes with nonconserved external currents, based on the pinch technique method. In the context of 2 → 2 and 2 → 3 scattering processes, we show explicitly that the analytic results derived respect U(1)em gauge symmetry and do not depend on the choice of the SU(2)L gauge fixing. Our analytic approach treats, on equal footing...
متن کاملFinite - Volume Two - Pion Amplitudes in the I = 0 Channel
We perform a calculation in one-loop chiral perturbation theory of the two-pion matrix elements and correlation functions of an I = 0 scalar operator, in finite and infinite volumes for both full and quenched QCD. We show that major difficulties arise in the quenched theory due to the lack of unitarity. Similar problems are expected for quenched lattice calculations of K → ππ amplitudes with ∆I...
متن کاملScalar Mesons and Multichannel Amplitudes
Properties of scalar–isoscalar mesons are analysed in an unitary model using separable interactions in three decay channels: ππ , KK and an effective 2π2π. We obtain different solutions by fitting various data on the ππ and KK phase shifts and inelasticities including the CERN-Cracow-Munich measurements of the πp↑ → π+π−n reaction on a polarized target. Analytical structure of the meson-meson m...
متن کاملFinite-size scaling amplitudes in a random tiling model
We study finite-size corrections to the free energy in a two-dimensional random tiling model. This model is equivalent to an asymmetric six-vertex model and exhibits commensurate-incommensurate phase transitions of the Pokrovsky-Talapov type. We calculate finite-size scaling amplitudes of the free energy inside the incommensurate phase, analytically and numerically, by employing a transfer matr...
